Google's free GMB websites are gone
For years, Google Business Profile offered a free one-page website built from your listing details. Thousands of Indian small businesses used it as their only web address.
Google shut that service down. The business.site addresses stopped working on 1 March 2024 and only redirected to the Business Profile listing until 10 June 2024. After that date, anyone visiting an old link gets a page not found error.
If your business card or WhatsApp status still points at one of those links, anyone tapping it now lands on nothing.
What that means for you

- Your profile's website field is either empty or pointing somewhere broken
- Searches that used to reach that page now reach a competitor
The replacement is a website you own, on a domain with your business name, linked from the profile.

Google Business Profile questions
Does Google still give a free website with Business Profile?
No. The business.site addresses stopped working on 1 March 2024, and the temporary redirect to the profile ended on 10 June 2024. Anything still pointing at an old link now shows a page not found error.
Do I need a website if I already have a profile?
A profile handles your name, hours, phone and reviews. It cannot carry your full service list, prices, packages or FAQs, and you do not own it. A linked website answers the questions that make someone call instead of checking the next result.
How long does verification take in India?
Postcard verification usually takes 5 to 14 days. Phone or video verification, where Google offers it for your category, can finish in a day or two.
Someone else created my listing and I cannot access it. Can you fix that?
Yes. There is a request-access process, and if the current owner does not respond within a set period, ownership can transfer to you. It takes a few weeks. We file it and follow up.
Will this get me into the top 3 map results?
It puts the basics right, which is what most competitors have not done. Ranking in the local pack also depends on proximity to the searcher, review count and how long the listing has been active, so nobody can promise a position. Anyone who does is guessing.
